马六甲普音寺水陆缘起
水陆法会是佛教最隆重的一种仪式，全名“法界聖凡水陆普度大齐勝会”，简称水陆会，又称水路道场、悲济会等，用以追薦、普度法界聖凡，即施斋食供养水陆有情，以救拔诸鬼。据说梁武帝萧衍曾夜梦神兽僧告之六道四生，受苦无量，惟起建水陆无遮大法会救济之，始能脱苦。梁武帝便披览经纶，综合慈悲梁皇宝忏、阿难遇面然鬼王一事等，建立平等施食之意，制作仪文，首於金山寺启建，由梁武帝当斋。水陆法会由百位僧人之功德力来拔救水上、陆上之六道群灵之大法会。
水陆法会，上则供养十方诸佛，仗佛慈利，祈求世界和平，国泰民安。中则恭奉释梵诸天，以此功德回向十方信众消灾免难，庇蔭子孙。下则普渡六道群灵，十方无祀孤魂，各姓祖先，冤親债主，水，风，火灾，车祸，空难，意外死亡等往生净土。水陆法会，冥阳两利，恩霑九族，功德之大，不可思议。参加水陆法会的意义在於学习平等心度众，以无遮大会表达对一切众生的友爱、关怀与好意。除了给予衣食外，更要以佛法令众生入无餘涅槃，即没有烦恼、生死、挂碍。
History of The Liberation Rite of Water & Land (SHUI LU CEREMONY)
The Universal Deliverance and Grand Feast Assembly for All Saints, Sages and Sentient Beings in the Dharma Realm of Water (Shui) and Land (Lu)，known in shorts as the Liberation Rite of Water and Land,is the most spectacular and solemn ritual in Chinese Buddhism.
The Shui Lu Ceremony working committee consisted of 100 monks in order to invites all saints, sages and sentient beings to attend the ceremony. Through taking up food offerings, reciting sutras and mantras, and receiving dharma teachings, all sentient beings can be delivered and liberated from samsara, the cycle of birth and death. The merits attained by all the participants in the assembly are infinite and boundless. The festival is attributed to Emperor Liang Wu Di of the Liang Dynasty. The emperor had a dream in which a holy monk advised him to make offering to liberate the beings in the lower realm from immense sufferings. Lastly, the ceremony aims to benefit all sentient beings can be relieved of suffering and be liberated from the cycle of birth and death. This transference of merits can also be dedicated to your past and present life “Karmic Creditors”.
